24 Hours in Tokyo...

Last year, I was lucky enough to visit one of the world's most busiest yet calming cities... Tokyo.

With the dream of being able to walk around a city like this, I always found myself interested in both the traditional and modern vibe that Tokyo seemed to offer and it definitely went above and beyond my expectations.

In this post, I'm teaming up with Accor Hotels as part of their "24 hours in..." competition where you get the chance to win a 9 Day Trip exploring some of the world's most iconic cities. So in this blog post, I'm going to advise you on some of the things you could do if you were to spend 24 hours in Tokyo. I'll be informing you of a variety of places I went to visit when I was in there- the places I would most recommend you visiting with 24 hours in my favourite city.

So what is there really to enlighten oneself when given the chance to spend 24 hours in a city with such character?

Whether you're hoping to encounter popular sights, shop until your feet hurt or merely experience the culture and diversity that this city has to offer... then look no further. Tokyo has a piece everything in order to please everyone. It caters for every type of visitor and holds so much personality in all that you see, giving people the greatest, most memorable opportunity.

One of the most iconic sights to see in Tokyo is the famous intersection found outside Shibyua Station. There's no doubt that you've seen this as it features in countless pieces of artwork and films. Being someone who loves the 'touristy' parts of a city, this was perfect for me to experience.

Yes, I was one of those people 'attempting' to cross amongst what seemed like thousands of others. But hey, you can't go to Tokyo and not participate in this. Think of a very busy New York crossing... but with a lot more people.

If you're someone who likes be away from the action and in a more calming environment, then go ahead and visit the Meiji Shrine located also in Shibuya.

The beautiful thing about Tokyo is that you can still be in the same town but feel like you're in a completely different place.

Meiji Shrine is the Shinto shrine dedicated to the late 19th century Emperor, Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken.

Arguably being the 'most popular attraction' in Tokyo, this placid, scenic area in the city holds so much history and culture. The atmosphere here was so relaxed and calming and I encountered so much beauty in both the feel of the place and the design that was in front of me. With Japan being famous for its Shrines, this definitely is worth a visit.

Fancy a quiet walk with picturesque sights and history to be discovered? Or even just somewhere to unwind for an hour or less whilst taking in the scenes surrounding you? Meiji Shrine is the place to be.

Now... if you're anything like me, you'll love to discover as much as you can in a short space of time. Therefore, I love to experience a mixture of everything that somewhere has to offer. That includes shopping...

Harajuku provides endless options when it comes to fashion, beauty and food.

With it's wacky stores, pops of colour and fashion enthusiasts, this place is a must visit in Tokyo.

I promise you you'll be faced with more shops and places to explore than you've ever seen. This place was by far somewhere that stood out to me as it's so different to where I'm from and I loved that. Different cultures excite me.

Why not travel 150 metres-250 metres above ground level and be faced with an overview of the concrete jungle that is known as Tokyo?

Tokyo Tower is one of the most popular sights in Japan, giving guests the opportunity to see Tokyo at 360 degrees from a height.

I'm not usually one for heights however, this was amazing to experience as there is a beautiful city with so much to see, so why not take the plunge?

If you enjoy dinner with a view, why not treat yourself to a meal above the ground? Tokyo Tower offers guests to appreciate a sit-down meal with entertainment 150 metres in the air.

You can spend as much or as little time as you want looking over Tokyo, therefore it makes the perfect trip for any time of the day.

No matter whether you're on your own, in a couple or travelling with a family, why not spend your 24 hours in the happiest place?

Disney and Disney Sea Tokyo just a train journey away.

It's an amazing day out or even afternoon/night time filled with immense joy and laughter.

With two parks, Disney and Disney Sea, you can purchase tickets for just one park or the two of them. Both offer amazing restaurants, parades, meet and greets with Disney characters and a night-time show/firework display.

Being someone who loves Disney, this place proved to be the highlight of my stay in Tokyo. It was vibrant, fun, easy to get to and a memory I shan't forget. It's perfect for children and adults as it has so much variety for how you spend your day/night.

Travelling is made easy with Tokyo's train and underground system.

You can get to different parts of the city within minutes, giving you plenty of time to explore and take in everything from your day. Just purchase yourself a one-day ticket and be on your way!

No matter what you love to do, Tokyo has something for everyone.

With everything practically on your doorstep, you can experience both the traditional and modern ways of Japan just like I did.

I couldn't recommend Tokyo enough. Like I've previously mentioned, it has endless sights, camera-pleasing places and everything you could possibly want and need out of a city break.

There are some of the ways in which you could spend 24 hours in Tokyo. It holds a special place in my heart and I shall forever remember it as "A breath of fresh air".

I hope you've enjoyed reading this blog post and it has given you some ideas on how to spend a day in Tokyo.
